  1. (This is WRT your post of June 12th. not sure where I should post it)
    Thank you Mike.
My n scale layout is 2′ x 4′ and I want to do a backdrop for the 2 foot end.
So I’m not going to go for the 6 DVD set you mention.
If I want to use images of my own or something I can get online, what is the correct way to scale it down (or up?).
You said, for example that the trees backdrop was full-size and the city backdrop to go behind it was half-size.
My question: what would full-size for n scale be?

    • I completely understand what you are asking. Resizing images of your own I think requires 1 of 2 things the first being a photo software editing program like photo shop or paint shop. I tried doing this myself and was not able to figure out how to do it correctly. Another way do do it would be to look at your printer settings when you go to print, If you have the option to print more than 1 image per page is another way to down size from a full size image. For instance having your printer print 2 images per page would be roughly 1/2 size 4 per page 1/4 size. not really sure how to make a longer backdrop without the cd set. I really don’t know how to make a long image like the ones I used on my backdrops without the cd set. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

  2. Thanks for your reply Mike. “Luckily” for me my layout is 2′ x 4′ so that means I am not looking for very long backdrops. I do have an editing program–it’s like Photoshop but it’s free–called GIMP. I’m roughing something out, and I do believe I will eventually get it figured out. I think my main problem is perspective because the backdrop will go behind a raised portion of the layout.
